Rob is an editorial and advertising photographer based in Birmingham, Alabama.
He’s good at disarming people (metaphorically), working with light, and building photographs based on ideas.
He has a low threshold for laughter, but he usually approaches his subjects with some seriousness. Tempered, of course, by ideas like Humanity, Warmth, and Engagement. People seem to like that stuff and respond in kind.
The best assignment he ever got was simple: “Be Curious.”
He prefers hard work, crews that you want to hang with after the shoot, and open ended creativity.
When not making or thinking about photographs, he poses as an amateur cyclist. He is a big fan of Rural Studio (especially Michele’s House 2014) and thoughtful design in general—this is why he loves working with good designers.
His current soapbox is telling people that they should be printing their photos and making albums with the prints. Seriously, this is important.
In the spirit of Willy Ronis.
